About this tool
Too cheap and the event loses money; too expensive and the seats stay empty. This calculator works out the ticket price that covers your costs, the price that reaches your profit target and how many tickets you need to sell at the price you have in mind.
It starts with the tickets you expect to sell: capacity times sell-through. Each ticket must carry its share of the fixed costs plus the cost per attendee. VAT and ticketing fees come out of every ticket price, so the calculator divides that amount by what stays with you from each unit of the price after VAT and fees.
Example: fixed costs of 6,000 EUR, 4 EUR per attendee, 500 seats and 80 % sell-through make 400 tickets. Each ticket needs to bring in 6,000 / 400 + 4 = 19 EUR. With 19 % VAT and 3 % payment fees, about 81 cents of every euro stay with you, so the break-even price is 23.45 EUR. For a profit of 2,000 EUR you need 29.62 EUR. At a planned price of 25 EUR you break even after 370 tickets - 74 % of the house.
Play with the numbers before you publish the event: a smaller venue, a higher sell-through or lower fees change the price more than you think.
