Is this a project management tool?

No — it's a Gantt chart visualiser. For ongoing project tracking, use Task Hub or an equivalent. This tool is for planning, presenting, and quick "are we still on track" checks.

Can I share the chart with my team?

Export as SVG (renders cleanly in any slide deck or wiki) or as CSV (import into your task tool). The tool doesn't host the chart — but the CSV is shareable.

Why no drag-to-resize bars?

We optimised for the keyboard-edit workflow — type a new duration and the chart updates instantly. Drag handles add UI complexity for marginal gain when you're planning fast.

Does it handle critical path?

No critical-path calculation yet. The Task Hub edition includes critical path + auto-rescheduling when dependencies slip.

What's the today marker for?

A red dashed vertical line at today's date. Helps you spot slipping tasks at a glance — anything whose bar is left of the line and not done is overdue.

Existing Gantt tools either charge per seat (SmartDraw, TeamGantt) or feel like 1995 (MS Project). This free Project Gantt Generator runs in your browser and gives you the essentials: add tasks with start date + duration, set predecessor dependencies, see the bars laid out on a day grid with weekend shading, a today marker, and arrow lines that show the dependency chain.
