What counts as a "billable day"?

Any day a vehicle is rented, leased or otherwise generating revenue. Days in maintenance, repair or sitting empty don't count. Some operators include "guaranteed standby" rates as billable — be consistent.

My utilization is 90%+ — is that good?

Surprisingly no. Above 90% you're running with no buffer for maintenance, last-minute demand or vehicle downtime. The healthy zone is 70–85%. Above 90% means you should expand the fleet.

How do I improve utilization?

Three levers: dynamic pricing (cheaper on slow days), shorter minimum-rental periods, and reactivating dormant customers via email/CRM. A 10pt improvement on a fleet of 20 typically adds €50k–€150k/year.
